I love when I finish a presentation and then I get to hang out with the audience in the room.
Yesterday was one of those days. I finished my talk and within minutes, I was surrounded by participants wanting to share their insights, their thoughts and express their appreciation for my work.
That makes me happy.
Don’t get me wrong I love sending newsletters, writing blogs, being on social media, but nothing beats the feeling of being in the room with my ideal client and listening, first hand, about the challenges they have and teaching them about my work.
So let me ask you. Where do YOU hang out with your potential clients? Where do you get to see them, connect eye to eye and listen first-hand what they are struggling with? Here are 3 ways that you can get out of your office and network with your market:
- SMALL EVENTS: Reach out to local organizations, Chambers of Commerce, associations, and even social groups and ask to present to them (at no cost).
- NETWORKING DINNERS: Join a few organizations where YOUR IDEAL clients gather. For this, you must be able to answer the question, who do you want to be a hero to? Make sure these are small, VERY intimate dinners where you can truly connect with other participants.
- SPONSOR A SMALL EVENT: Yes, you are not too small to become a sponsor! Look for complementary companies that are doing cool events and offer to sponsor them. Are you a business coach? Offer to sponsor an event for the local women-owned business association. Are you a health and wellness coach? Look to be a sponsor in the next PTO or charity in your community.
Visibility is the NUMBER one job as an entrepreneur. Nobody can buy your products and services if they can’t find them!
